WATER COMPANIES MUST MAKE MORE PROGRESS ON LEAKS - HUHNE12.00.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 21st Jul 2006 Responding to Ofwat's announcement that Thames Water and Severn Water have been the worst at tackling leaks, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "I welcome Ofwat's rebuke of these under-performing suppliers. However, they must get tough to make sure targets are met in the future. "Their charges have gone through the roof, while their service has gone through the floor. Their customers deserve a better deal. "If these companies spent more money on fixing leaks and less money on dividends and meaningless advertising campaigns, then maybe they might actually meet their targets."
