BUSINESS COMMUNITY ESSENTIAL IN TACKLING CLIMATE CHANGE - HUHNE

12.35.36pm UTC (GMT +0000) Fri 19th Jan 2007

Commenting on the news that Tesco is to invest nearly £500m to combat climate change, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defra Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

"Tesco's commitments on carbon emissions and its new labelling scheme follow hard on the heels of similar announcements by Marks and Spencer which show that Britain's high streets are greening quickly.

"This is good news and shows the way forward for the business community, whose active engagement in tackling climate change is essential if we are to resolve the problem."
