HARD-HEADED PLANS NEEDED TO HALT CLIMATE CHANGE - HUHNE

1.12.31pm UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 26th Feb 2007

Commenting on the announcement from various green lobby groups that they will publish regular assessments of the environmental policies of the main political parties, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

"This is a welcome emphasis on action, not words. The Liberal Democrats have led the other parties in developing policies like the green tax switch - putting up green taxes on cars and planes and using the revenue to cut income tax.

"We will continue to do so as we review our climate change plans at this autumn's conference. The answer must be hard-headed plans that work, not just warm words and photo-opportunities."
